August 2009 Trading Science is pleased to announce the general availability of I-Plan version 3.0 This new version includes a Dashboard on the Home page to give users a snapshot of Key Performance Indicators when they first log in. It also includes a new optional module called BSO for Block Schedule Optimisation. Trading Science recognised that many companies have difficulty matching the agreed allocations from the Master Planning (or Sales and Operations Planning) process to realistic production schedules. Without a mechanism to adjust production schedules to varying demand there were problems with replenishment and order fulfillment not "finding" production capacity at the right time. BSO overcomes these problems by providing a template for the ideal sequence of runs on a paper machine, which is then optimised to match the demand allocations. The optimiser adjusts run lengths, while respecting minimum run time and changeover costs, to give the best schedule respecting customer service and cost constraints. |
